Turning off auto-refresh

Last updated:

If you have a Basic account, you don't want your browser to keep refreshing the web page automatically, but you can prevent this. Let's show you how!

How do I stop my Chrome browser tab from refreshing?

Follow these steps to effectively stop Chrome from reloading tabs and take control of your browsing experience:

  • Visit chrome://discards via your Google Chrome browser.
  • Under Auto Discardable, beside the Classroomscreen tab, click 'Toggle', and an 'X' will appear.

note:

This setting provides the Site Engagement Score and Reactivation Score, which help Chrome determine if a site is inactive and should be auto-reloaded. If you close and relaunch Chrome, Chrome keeps refreshing tabs because Auto Discardable is re-enabled by default. Although this setting is not permanent, it will remain in effect as long as you keep Chrome active.
