Fixing camera and microphone issues

Two of our widgets require access to your camera and microphone - our Webcam and Sound level widgets. In order to use them, you will need to have a working camera and microphone on your computer.

important:

If you are running into difficulties with these widgets, it could be because you've disabled access to them somewhere in your browser settings.

Follow the steps below to enable your camera and/or microphone for Classroomscreen:

Turn on access

When you first activate either of these widgets, a pop-up will appear to ask if you will allow access to your camera and microphone. In most cases, once you give access, they will work whenever you are on the same computer and web browser.

Double-check permissions

If this is not the case, and you find that the widgets aren't working as they should, you will need to dive deeper into these settings to check that the relevant permissions have been granted.

Step 1: Open the Chrome browser.

Step 2: With the Classroomscreen tab open, click the 'View site settings' icon to the left of the URL in the Chrome address bar.

Step 3: Click Site Settings.

Via Permissions:

  • Camera → Set it to Allow
  • Microphone → Set it to Allow

Step 4: Close the settings and reload the site.
