Adding widgets

When you launch Classroomscreen, you will arrive at the widget screen to find 25 different widgets that support all of your classroom activities!

To add a widget to your screen:

  1. Click on its icon in the widget bar.
  2. A small gray dot appears above the icon, indicating active instances.

Editing widgets

In the widget bar, you can access more widgets by clicking the 'More' button and reorganize how they appear by pressing the 'Edit widget bar' button.

When a widget appears on your screen, it has an indigo-colored border, signaling that it is ready to be modified. A toolbar floats above the widget, and you can hover over the icons to get descriptions (aka tool tips) of actions you can take.

Here's how you can modify a widget:

  • Resizing: Click and drag on any corner.
  • Moving: Click on the widget and drag it across the screen, or click the 'Drag widget' icon in the toolbar.
  • Rotating: Click on the double-ended arrow (if available) and rotate the widget between 0 - 180 degrees.
  • Alignment: Select a few widgets and then click the ‘Align objects’ icon in the toolbar to position them (along with stickers and annotations) neatly.
  • Grouping: Select a few widgets, click the 'More' button, and then 'Group' - you'll see the border go blue. In this mode, you can edit single widgets, and bulk modifications are easy!

tip:

Exit edit mode by clicking anywhere on the background.

Using widgets

There are additional functionalities available to save you time when building screens.

  • Copy & paste: Select a widget (or a few) and press 'Command (⌘)/Ctrl + C' to copy and 'Command (⌘)/Ctrl + V' to paste on any screen in your collection.
  • Show in all screens (aka Pin): Keep a widget visible across all screens in a collection.
  • Spotlight: Highlight a widget while hiding others.
  • Lock: Prevent accidental movement or deletion.
  • Layer: Bring widgets to the front or send them to the back, and create a nice overlap!

tip:

In the toolbar of every widget, these features are accessible via the 'More' button, and you can also access specific 'Settings' (for example, style or sound) or trash a widget by clicking on 'Remove'.

Beyond widgets, key UI buttons help manage your screen.

  • Home: Go to your dashboard.
  • Options: Access full screen, sharing, restore deleted widgets, keyboard shortcuts, and the help center.
  • Settings: Adjust the screen name, aspect ratio, language, time, dark mode, and navigation.
  • Navigation bar: See how many screens are in your collection, move between them, and add new ones.
  • Widget / Annotation bar: Hide the widget bar by pressing the 'Caret' button next to the 'More' icon, or press the shortcut key 'B'. Access the Annotation bar by clicking on the 'Squiggle' next to the Background widget.
