Celebrating the school year

In this blog post, we'll explore how you can use Classroomscreen to create memorable end-of-year activities that support reflection, celebration, and preparation for the next chapter.

End-of-year activities are not just about wrapping up the curriculum; they're about acknowledging growth, fostering a sense of accomplishment, and creating lasting memories.

Reflection is a powerful way to help students recognize their growth and achievements over the school year. It encourages them to look back on their experiences, identify what they've learned, and appreciate their progress.

We have created a screen dedicated to this theme called 'Let's reflect' that includes a free printable to give to students. In this activity, students have the opportunity to reflect on what went well this year, and what their goals are for the upcoming one.

Alternatively, if you are looking for a gratitude-based activity, 'Let's practice: Gratitude' is an interactive screen where a series of prompts and presentation methods can be generated to practice showing gratitude.

Celebrating achievements is an essential part of the end-of-year activities. It's about acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and progress that students have made throughout the year. Need a quick way to display achievements? Use our 'Class podium' template.

The end of the school year also marks the beginning of a new chapter. It's important to help students prepare for the transition ahead, whether it's moving to a new grade, school, or simply the summer break. If your school has 'moving up' days to allow students to meet their new classroom and teacher, it's a great time to introduce rules & procedures or just get to know your new class.

Each round includes a question and four labeled response options (e.g. Love, Like, Dislike, No Way). Students move to the corner that best represents their opinion and, optionally, share why. On each screen, hit the Randomizer to generate a prompt like 'Pineapple on pizza' or 'Homework' for your students to react to.

Although the summer holidays are coming up soon, there is still important work to be done! While you finish the final topics or prep for exams, there are still ways to make learning more engaging and fun.

Here are some quick ideas:

  • Add in a playlist to work to by entering a Youtube URL into our Video widget, or by embedding a Spotify or Apple Music playlist.

  • Use summer-themed backgrounds and stickers in your screens. You can find these through the Background and Sticker widgets, just type 'summer' into the search bar if the categeory isn't showing.
  • Include brain breaks into revision sessions or just in normal classes. Get students out of their seats or focused on a different activity to help soothe any restless or bored energies. We have a whole category of templates that can be used for this purpose; click here to explore them all!

Incorporating fun games into your end-of-year activities can add a layer of excitement and engagement. Games are a great way to foster teamwork, creativity, and a sense of community in the classroom.
