Building interactive board games in Classroomscreen

6 min

Learn how you can build and customize three different types of board games in Classroomscreen and bring more play into your lessons!

Why use Classroomscreen for board games?

Board games have long been a staple of fun and interactive learning in classrooms. They promote engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking—all while reinforcing key educational concepts. With Classroomscreen, teachers can take game-based learning to the next level by designing digital board games that integrate customizable tools like dice, randomizers, and draggable items.

Easy setup

No need for physical game pieces! Everything is on-screen. This means they are also great for online teachers (or those stuck inside on snow days!)

Customizable tools

Looking to make a game easier or more advanced depending on learning level? Want to change up the subject matter? It’s as easy as 1, 2, text widget!

No student accounts needed

Unlike other game tools, students do not need to login to anything to play the games you build. Simply share your screen with them through a link or QR code and they have their own interactive game board to use wherever they are.

Try it out and let the games begin! 🎉

Snakes and ladders for elementary math

Math can be challenging for some students, but a Snakes and ladders game makes practicing equations both fun and rewarding.

How to play

  • Each player gets a game piece (you can add more through the Games sticker sheet!)
  • Roll the dice to get started.
  • Each time a player lands on a new space, they must solve a math problem before moving forward. If they get it wrong, they stay put!
  • Land on a snake? Slide it down. Land on a ladder? Up you climb!

tip:

If you would prefer to use Shoots rather than Snakes, we’ve got some waiting for you in the Games sticker sheet.

Increasing difficulty

If your students need to practice more advanced math skills, you can edit the problems in each box. Practicing square roots? Number trees? Fractions? The options are endless.

Space quiz with randomized questions

Transform review sessions into a space-themed quiz adventure with a randomizer tool that selects questions for players. This template can also easily be customized for any subject, making knowledge recall more engaging.

How to play

  1. Each player rolls the dice to move forward, then answers a question from the randomizer.
  2. Correct answers let players move again; incorrect answers keep them in place.

Changing subject

You can always change the subject through:

  • Switching the background to something related to your subject matter.
  • Adding new questions to the Randomizer widget.
  • Decorating your game with fun stickers from our Sticker widget.

Back-to-school "My Favorites" icebreaker game

Start the school year with a fun get-to-know-you game where students share their favorite things! This game is a great starting point for friendship as it helps students find common interests with their classmates without those awkward silences.

How to play:

  1. Divide the class into groups of max 4 students or play together as a big group.
  2. Students roll to land on a color with their game piece and share their answer with the class or their partner.
  3. Players can move their tokens across the board as they take turns rolling.
