About this template

Try this fully interactive, in-class speaking experience designed for ESL learners. Everything is integrated on a single screen, so there’s no wasted time switching between windows.

How to play

  1. Divide the class into teams and assign each team a colored piece.
  2. Select a student (manually or using the Randomizer widget).
  3. Roll the die and move the team's piece accordingly.
  4. The student answers the prompt where they land and must speak for 30 seconds without stopping.
  5. If they hesitate, can't answer, or misuse the target language (TL), move back two spaces.
  6. First team to reach the finish wins!

tip:

Aya recommends demonstrating a full turn before starting as well as making sure the language in the game matches the TL (e.g., avoid present perfect questions if you're practicing superlatives).
