Classroomscreen for Drama Teachers
Classroomscreen can be an amazing tool for Theatre/Drama teachers to aid with rehearsals. Whether you teach middle school drama, high school theatre, or run after-school productions, visual tools can make rehearsals more efficient and more student-led.
The Timetable widget gives everyone a clear idea of what to expect for each rehearsal. This widget has three different display settings depending on your needs: List, Checklist, and Timed schedule. You can add the scenes to rehearse, warm up activities and other events onto an interactive agenda to keep you and your students on track throughout the class.
tip:
You can also pin your Timetable to appear on all screens within a screen deck, so you have it available whenever you need it.
The Calendar widget in combination with the Stickers can give students a visual guide as to when rehearsals and performances are scheduled. For example, the “star” sticker can be placed on dates with a scheduled rehearsal, and the “drama masks” sticker can be placed on dates with a scheduled performance.
A great way to ensure uniformity in your stickers is to add one sticker to your screen, adjust the size and rotate as desired, then select the “More” menu on the sticker (three dots) and select “Copy sticker”. You can then use your keyboard command (Ctrl+V) to paste the sticker as many times as desired and position where needed.
You can also select your calendar and all stickers to make a group so that you don’t accidentally move a sticker.
Many schools participate in competitions that have strict requirements regarding a show’s run time. The Visual Timer and Stopwatch widgets are great for measuring how long your current run time is. You can even use them in tandem to show goal run time versus actual run time.
The Sound Level widget is most often used to show students when the classroom is getting too loud. Did you know that you can also use it to show students when they are not loud enough?
An actor can be told that they can’t be heard on stage, but the Sound Level widget can give them a visual demonstration of their actual noise level and where they should work toward.
Beyond these examples, Classroomscreen has a range of other tools that might be helpful to you in your teaching.
Here are some other tips:
- Embed Youtube clips to show other performances of the script, background music or warm-up exercises.
- Use the Randomizer to select a student to perform their piece, or the Group maker to create rehearsal groups.
- Personalize your screen with relevant backgrounds, and use the Text widget to add reminders to display to the cast.
No matter what you are creating, Classroomscreen is a helpful tool to manage your time and ensure your performance is rehearsed to perfection.
