About this template

This template is designed to assist you in managing students' emotional states and self-regulation within the classroom setting. This template integrates the concepts from the 'Zones of Regulation' framework developed by Leah Kuypers.

How it works

It enables students to identify and communicate their emotional states using a simple, visual system and allows for collective tracking and reflection via the Scoreboard widget. Students simply add a point in the zone they are identifying with:

  • Blue Zone: Representing low states of alertness (sad, tired, bored, etc.)
  • Green Zone: Ideal state of alertness (calm, happy, focused, etc.)
  • Yellow Zone: Elevated state of alertness (anxious, excited, silly, etc.)
  • Red Zone: Extremely heightened state of alertness (angry, out of control, stressed, etc.)

After the check-in is completed, the teacher has an overview of the current emotions in their class. If you see that many students are in the red zone, try one of our mindfulness brain breaks like "What can you hear?". For students in the blue zone, an activity like "Rhythm Rampage" might help regulate their emotions.
