About this template
This dice-based language game encourages creativity, vocabulary expansion, and sentence formation—perfect for ESL learners, young students, or anyone practicing verbal communication.
How it works.
Each student takes turns rolling two dice:
- One die represents colors (e.g., red, yellow, blue).
- The other represents numbers (one through five).
Students use a provided chart to match the rolled color and number to a corresponding icon. Using the matched icon as inspiration, students construct a sentence that incorporates its meaning or emotion.
example:
If the icon is a cat, a student might say, "My cat was happy this morning."
Students take turns rolling, matching, and forming sentences. Play can continue for as many rounds as desired, helping learners practice new vocabulary and improve fluency in a natural and engaging way.
This speaking activity for language learners is adaptable for various age groups and proficiency levels. It’s a great classroom game for ESL teachers, speech therapists, or educators seeking interactive ways to boost speech development and sentence-building skills.
